Housing the Beast – DIY 150 Gallon Aquarium Stand, Canopy, & Setup

This video explains how I constructed a DIY 150 gallon aquarium stand and canopy. This setup was created for my 6 year old Common Snapping Turtle that I raised from a hatchling. She was a female weighing in at 17 pounds, with a shell length of 11”.

I am by no means a carpenter and I used mostly hand tools for this project. That being said, there are definitely some issues that wouldn’t have occurred had I used power tools. Either way, with a little hard work and time, I feel that any one could construct such a stand.

The stand features faux stained glass canopy windows, painted stand doors and a totally custom look altogether! All in all, I’m very pleased with the results of this project.
